This allows the game to be played like any other Animal Crossing game. When playing in real time, in-game events are affected by the time of day or season, much like any other Animal Crossing game. Living in an animal-populated town, the player character is encouraged to engage in a variety of activities, such as collecting and planting. Animal Crossing: New Leaf is the follow-up to Animal Crossing: Wild World on the GameCube. All of these regions were followed by Europe in March 2006.
Release dates in Japan were November 2005, North America and Australia were December 2005, and Europe were March 2006. In 2005, Nintendo released Animal Crossing: Wild World, a social-simulation video game for the Nintendo DS.
